Make America Great Again through Prayer (Week 10)

america-heart

Along with Valentine’s Day, February marks American Heart Month, a time to commit to a better lifestyle and make small changes that can lead to a lifetime of health. The heart is important and the condition of the heart has much relevance to God. With this month having so much focus on the heart, does America need a heart change?

  • You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13)
  • Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37)

I ask this week for us to pray, not pointing a finger at anyone or any group in particular, the world in the natural is doing enough of that, but as God examines and knows every one, let us yield to Him and His authority, that every man and woman be turned to God and have a heart that knows Him and loves Him. We cannot persuade people to true heart change. It takes a change of heart in the spiritual to manifest in the natural, and only God can restore and make right that relationship.

PRAYER:

Holy Father, we surrender our hearts, attitudes, and minds to You in prayer. Lord, examine our hearts and point out anything that offends you. Personally and as a nation, we call upon Your truth and wisdom to prevail. Keep us from lying to ourselves and others. Create in us a clean heart and keep us from evil. Give us pure hearts filled with a desire to know and serve You. By Your authority, Lord, purge out the hate, slander, selfishness, and malicious hearts that seek to destroy peace and harmony in America. Draw our hearts into agreement with Your Word. By Your Holy Spirit, Lord, give us a boldness to pursue righteousness and a gentleness that brings others to know You. Father, there is so much happening in our nation, and we humbly ask for Your intervention. We need You, and there is no other way but through Your Son, Jesus, that our nation can be saved. There is much to sort out and confusion is rampant; bring Your peace and discernment to make the path clear. Order our steps, Lord, that You will receive the glory. Give us patience, Lord, as You right the wrongs and restore justice in our land. We pray for wisdom as to our roles in making America a place where You reign. We pray for wisdom for our leaders, government officials, and all those in positions of influence and authority that they are submissive to Your highest authority and to Your will. Turn our hearts towards You that we may know Your truth. Give us courage to act and speak in Your behalf in a manner that is consistent with Your goodness and mercy. Heal our hearts, Lord, of bitterness, anger, resentment, contempt, and unforgiveness, and renew a right spirit within us. In Jesus’s Name we pray. Amen

For God and Country,

Julie

Scripture in consideration of this article:

Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. (Matthew 6:21)

The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve. (Jeremiah 17:9-10)

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23)

As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person. (Proverbs 27:19)

The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin. (Proverbs 10:8)

Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation. (Proverbs 3:3-4)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)

I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. I praise you, O Lord, teach me your decrees. (Psalm 119:11-12)

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:14)

I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws. (Psalm 119:7)

Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord. (Psalm 31:24)

Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. (Ephesians 6:10-18)
